Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga have been Musical Soul-Mates for a couple years now but their October 24, 2014,“Cheek to Cheek LIVE” jazz concert debut on the PBS Great Performances series took their heartfelt relationship even higher.

Bennett asked Lady to be on his “Duets” 2011 album and they sang “That’s Why The Lady is a Tramp.” I have watched their UTube studio performance video scores of times and shared it with many friends. Each viewing always is Fresh Delight and it’s evident that the two singers truly love one another. Love it when Lady takes Tony’s trademark handkerchief out of his Dress suit pocket and fluffs it around his and then her face as Tony beams with joy.

Watch their studio video – Agree?

The fun they had recording “Duets” led them to create an entire album of Jazz Standards from the 1930s to 1950s – “Cheek to Cheek” – that was released September 23, 2014. The album of 11 songs is a mix of each singing with the other, as well as singing solo – backed by the great Tony Bennett Quartet, a superb 44-member orchestra and a rousing 13-piece Brass ensemble – all of whom performed with Lady and Tony on the PBS television concert.

Great Black & White Photos (by Steven Klein) of Tony, Lady and the musicians in a deftly designed, yard-long album fold-out takes you back to when the jazz songs – composed from Cole Porter and Irving Berlin to Dorothy Fields and Duke Ellington – were first heard in nightclubs.

After listening to the album several times, being able to see these songs performed on the PBS Great Performances “Cheek to Cheek LIVE ” concert debut October 25 was True Joy mixed at times with Smiling Tears.

The 88-year-old Tony and Lady Gaga now 28 – who both share New York City Italian-American roots – don’t understand the term Generation Gap. They prefer Generation Joy.Please check out all links.
