His newest album, “Dutchman’s Curve,” is musically Olney’s best. Instruments I rarely have heard on an Olney album, burst out and deftly complement David’s voice and words – penny whistle, cello and both baritone and bass sax. In this album, David puts on a new hat – the crooner – yet another incarnation but one hinted at before.  The album is full of achingly beautiful songs. David Olney writes short stories – not songs. His website has many lyrics.

with Austin fiddler Richard Bowden in the G&S Lounge in Austin March 18, 2010 - a funky dive that reminds David of his favorite dive bar in Nashville.

David’s website bio reads “His songs have been recorded by Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Del McCoury, Lonnie Brooks, James King, Slaid Cleaves, Dale Ann Bradley, Tom Rozum, Ann Rabson, Keiran Kane/Kevin Welch/Fats Kaplin, Tim O’Brien and others. He has released more than 20 albums over four decades, including six live recordings, and performs worldwide.”
